The soybean or soya bean is a species of legume native to East Asia, widely grown for its edible bean which has numerous uses. The plant is classed as an oilseed rather than a pulse by the UN Food and Agricultural Organization. Soyabeans occur in various sizes, and in many huller seed coat colors, including black, brown, blue, yellow, green and mottled. The hull of the mature bean is hard, water-resistant, and protects the cotyledon and hypocotyls (or “germ”) from damage.

Ginger (Zingiber officinale Roscoe) is a flowering plant whose rhizome, ginger root or simply ginger, is widely used as a spice or a medicine. It is an herbaceousperennial which grows annual stems about a meter tall bearing narrow green leaves and yellow flowers. The rhizome (ginger) is gathered when the stalk withers; it is immediately scalded, or washed and scraped, to kill it and prevent sprouting.
